GadgetShieldz Skin for Nexus 6 [REVIEW]

Heya guys!

Fall 2013 fuss developed about the Android Silver replacing the mighty Nexus series. News got so strong about it that, even device images were viral in the rumor mill. But finally, Nexus 6 emerged from the rumor clouds, it was so relieving!

So I recently pre-ordered and received the mighty android phablet/phone Google Nexus 6 by Motorola. It was heavenly awesome feeling as I was waiting for the year 2014’s flagship Google Nexus, desperately. Even before it was delivered I was quite skeptical about the screen protectors and the available quality. one big name, quite famous is DBRAND. But in India, shipping a product from them really costs almost double and even took thrice the normal time!

Can’t wait!

The Quest

The quest was to find a similar quality product, here in India. Cost was alright but, I really wanted it delivered in my hands as soon as possible. Then my friend Amit told me about GadgetShieldz and I was really taken aback by the range and available flexibility in choosing the product. Most importantly, they have Indian version of the website and fast delivery time.

yoohoo…

Since I ordered a simple and cheaper version of the Nexus 6’s Screen guard from Amazon, now I was more keen about getting a skin to flaunt on the huge back of the N6. If the quality goes well, than GS will be my destination for buying more in future. I liked the one, which looked like aluminium finish. But unfortunately my love (I have a cute girlfriend, yes!) chose a skin named Silver Carbon Fiber which, was 2nd on my list.

Sometimes you ought to sacrifice in love, LOL

The delivery and the product.

Finally item got shipped in 5 days, weekend inclusive. The packaging was really nice. As I opened it, I was first shocked, not to find the Skin but a screen guard!

Damn! Wrong order or a wrong delivery, I was spur into questions!
Worried I, called Amit and asked him about the situation and he burst into laughter, a joy that revealed clearly that he already had been in such a nonplussed situation. Then he asked me to notice a big-yet-obscurely placed pocket on the top where, the precious skin rested.
I struggled to take the skin out, and then it finally landed on my table. As I picked it Damn…it felt so full and complete in hand. The quality was really amazing, better then the ones I have seen.

The Skinning

Nexus 6 has a NEXUS logo on the back, and it looks shiny and wondrously amazing. Since the engraving was cut out in the skin as well, applying the skin on the phone with perfection, seemed arduous task! It took me 5 attempts (4 partial and 1 full , stick and takeoff cycle), to precisely apply the Skin. The adhesive was really impressive, it supported my patience to apply the skin, lol.
Suggestion: If you owe any device with such a design complexity, try paying few bucks to a professional, to do that for you rather than you end up spoiling the skin.

The Final Result:

Whoa!

Nexus 6 looked really gorgeous from the back. But front one I only applied to see how it looks after complete application.

Final Verdict

I really liked the product, and it surely has made my Nexus 6 look, even more gorgeous. I can sum the Skin from GadgetShieldz in few points.

Quick catch about the skins:
I liked:
  • Sturdy material 3M product.
  • Good adhesive, I mean really good.
  • Niche product, exact cutouts for logos.
  • Sharp designs, feels in hand.

I didn’t like:

  • Edges were not smooth.
  • Original grip was lost from the back. (probably because mine was a metallic finish).

Rest went really well. I really liked the Skin. Surely will go for more products from them here
